Reviews for Swee Kee Chicken Rice Aeon Tebrau City

I visited an interesting spot that offers a unique combination of traditional chicken dishes and dim sum. The restaurant’s décor isn’t particularly remarkable, but the warmth and attentiveness of the staff more than made up for the simple setting. The tender chicken, served with fragrant rice, paired wonderfully with the ginger sauce, which added just the right amount of zing to each bite. It was comforting, satisfying, and full of flavour – a dish I would gladly return for. On the other hand, the dim sum didn’t quite measure up to expectations. The portions were surprisingly small, and the flavours didn't impress me as much as other dim sum places I’ve been to. While it was decent, it lacked that rich depth and freshness you often find in better dim sum establishments.

Was hungry and looking for something to snack on and passed by this interesting chicken rice shop that sells dim sum!
They have some specials - 三色烧包,仙草冻饮料… both were too sweet but tasted really good!
The must-haves are really the 烧鸡 and 烧腊双拼!the chicken was so tender and the roasted pork and char Siew were 肥肉刚好 - had enough fatty and lean parts hence they melt in the mouth.
The other dimsum were ok, like dim sum. Love the various chilli choices - all v gd!

I had asked for boneless chicken and they told me that breast meat be served. Wow!!! Its so tender and juicy!!!
My family had great reviews too

Not to be mistaken for the famous SG Swee Choon's dimsum, we also thought it was a dimsum place, when in fact, it was a Chicken Rice stall.
But since it did sell dim sum. We went ahead to have a light lunch, comprising of carrot cakes, char siew bao and the works. Nothing to shout about, but just to know if you are in the Aeon vicinity, this restaurant sells dim sum as well as chicken rice.

Average Chinese restaurant. Their signature chicken was not as tasty as I thought it would be. The other dishes were also quite average.
The char siew and roasted pork noodles were not bad (forgot to take a picture). Take note that their dim sum is only available before 5pm.

Swee Kee chix rice was once a v popular chix rice restaurant in sg that was long lost when they suddenly folded in the late 90s. Not sure if this Swee Kee is any affiliated. Seemed newly opened in this obscure area of Aeon Tebrau. Ordered the white+roasted drumstick combo for 1 pax (Rm19.80)+ braised egg (Rm3.50). Total dmg Rm27 nett inclu tax and service charge. Acceptable for sinkies but i think abit ex for the locals. The rice is fairly fragrant and the chili though looks watery but it packs a serious punch. I have a habit of drizzling the chili on my rice but i wasn’t expecting the chilli to be so spicy. The chicken is very tender. Both the white and roasted are pretty gd i would say. Overall i think it’s pretty decent for sg style hainanese chix rice.

Ambience isn't quiet and very open so can be noisy. Sweet n sour pork is only glazed minced pork balls, however the other ingredients like the lychee and pineapples are fresh. Tofu dish is nice as well. Chicken porridge has no flavour even tho the chicken meat is enough, the duck egg it whatever egg that's supposed to come with each bowl isn't substantial to elevate to the kind of flavour expected. Staff service is good, helped us to rush up our dishes due to our time constraints. Drinks is not cheap at rm4.80 for mineral bottle?

Steamed kampong chicken was over cooked. Distinctly lacking in the chicken flavor that one would expect. The rice was pretty good though and the sauces are all great. Dim sum items was also above average. Unfortunately the other stir fry dishes was far below average. The sweet and sour pork was mostly batter, the brinjal was not pleasant to eat. Should had gone to nandos.

Located in a somewhat Secluded Side Alley of this Mall, this Eatery is not found on the Main Shopping Path. It is Nicely Renovated, Designed and Cleanly Maintained in a Modern Chinese Restaurant sort of look.
Although Swee Kee is more Famous for their Chicken Rice, this Review will be about their Dim Sums.
Every one of them were presented in a Very Good Looking Old School Traditional Bamboo Baskets and even Custom Printed with their Own SK Logo.
Every Dim Sum were served Hot here. Even the Baskets themselves were Hot to the Touch. They even add a Piece of Banana (Lotus?) Leaf in the Steamed Ones not only as a Support but also to Smartly Incorporate Earthy 香气 into them.
The Chilli Sauce Condiment served for their Dim Sums is a Garlic Chilli Sauce with a Slight Touch of Honey. Mildly Spicy, this is an Easygoing Spiciness and is not the Bite your Tongue type. This was Acceptable for a Dim Sum Chilli.
611 鱼子蒸烧卖 Siew Mai Dumpling = RM8.80
The Classic Siew Mai. This was Beautifully Wrapped and there are 3 of them in Standard Size. Very Juicy Bite. The 1st Thing that hits you is the Prawn Flavour and I think they use at least 1 Prawn in this. The Next Taste that follows up Very Closely are Mushrooms. Completely Not Porky at all.
Not Overly Prawny or Mushroomy, this Combined Taste of Prawn and Mushroom paired Together Very Well and I thought was a Winning Combination.
612 白玉翠虾饺 Har Gao Dumpling = RM9.80
I was impressed with the 手工 Delicate Beautiful Pleated Folds on this Har Gao. It had a Delicate Skin and the Taste Profile of the Dough reminds me of the type of Skin you'd normally encounter in a Chee Cheong Fun.
It looks Thick but is Melt in Mouth Quality. That said it does Unfortunately Break. Inside is a Whole Juicy Bouncy Prawn with some 汤汁 within. Not a Single Trace of Pork that I tasted, this is Prawny in Taste Profile but its also Not Overly Prawny.
613 蜜汁叉烧包 Char Siew Bun = RM7.80
Bao Skin is Delightfully Pillowy and Fluffy Soft. The Filling within is the Sweetish Gooey Type and Not Overly Sweet.
LOVE the Slightly Larger Bits of Char Siew Pieces within. Thick and Rich Tasting, this CSB Filling just had a Very 酒楼 type of Atas Taste to it.
614 黄金流沙包 Signature Egg Custard Bun = RM8.80
Presented like a Black Obsidian Jewel, they looked Ornate and Instagrammably Beautiful with a Very Artistic Golden Calligraphic-Like Brush Stroke on them.
The Skin Texture is pretty much the Same Pillowy soft as as their CSB. When broken, the Hot Salted Egg Filling immediately flowed out and were Very Fluid in Consistency. It really befits its "流沙" Name.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At RM8.80 (S$2.70) for the Siew Mai, this is Affordable, Above Average Quality and is definitely worth the Money to try.
At RM9.80 (S$3.00) for the Har Gao, likewise this was Affordable for the Quality they have here. Beautiful Delicate Folds.
At RM7.80 (S$2.40) for the Char Siew Baos, again Affordable and Excellent Quality. This CSB tastes like something you'd normally eat in a 酒楼 level.
At RM8.80 (RM2.70) for their LSB 流沙包 Yes Please! Everything about this Dish Screams "EAT ME NOW!"
And we haven't even touch on the Customer Service Level. Even as I finished my Dim Sums, no one came over to rush to keep my plates, and I didn't feel rushed to leave at all.
THIS is the Quintessential Perfect Dim Sum Experience. But of course I myself also Automatic lah and left soon after eating without hogging seats for hours on end.
Hopefully they are able to do more Promotion and Marketing to reach out to more people because the Dim Sums here are really no joke. More People needs to know there is a New Dim Sum Contender in JB! This is an Easy Top Score from me and I'm not even Kidding. Two Thumbs Up!
